An annual plant which grows on sandy beaches. They are 10–35 cm high. The leaves are half-rolled, with a strongly enlarged base. Floral leaves and leaflets grow away from the main stem. The inflorescence is sparse and short. Blossoms from July to August. The plant contains potassium and oxalic acid.
