Typically found in hillside herb-rich forests and herb-rich coniferous forests, the spring vetch (Lathyrus vernus) grows in the herb-rich forests of Mustavuori and in Central Park, for example in the herb-rich forest of Pitkäkoski.

It blooms in early June. The flowers are initially red, but eventually turn blue. Seedling shops typically sell a variety of spring vetch cultivars for garden plantings. The spring vetch is poisonous.
