The bog arum (Calla palustris), which grows in wet habitats, boasts impressive inflorescences and berries. It is a close relative of many popular Finnish house-plants, such as peace lily, spotted dumbcane, Swiss cheese plant and anthurium.

Bog arum is poisonous, but the poison is neutralised when the plant is boiled or dried, due to which it has been used in hard times to stretch out flour.
