The sea garden angelica (Angelica archangelica subsp. litoralis) is a subspecies of the true garden angelica that grows on seashores. The true garden angelica, which grows in northern Finland, has traditionally been used as a medicinal and seasoning herb and as food. The sea garden angelica, on the other hand, has no such applications, having a burning, bitter taste. Sea garden angelicas grow here and there on rocky shores along Helsinki’s coastline.
