The fly honeysuckle (Lonicera xylosteum) favours calcareous sites. This is why it is found in abundance in Mustavuori, which used to be the site of a limestone quarry in the 18th century. It also grows in Central Park, in the herb-rich forests of Pitkäkoski and Ruutinkoski.

The red berries of the fly honeysuckle are bitter and poisonous. Fly honeysuckles, like other honeysuckles, are used as ornamental plants.
