The pink-flowered maiden pink (Dianthus deltoides) can be found growing in the earthwork meadows of Vallisaari island and Kuninkaansaari island. Its numbers have decreased in Helsinki due to the overgrowth of meadows and dry meadows.
Gardening shops sell a variety of maiden pink cultivars that boast more intense colours than the natural variant. Maiden pink is also included in various meadow seed mixes.
